10. Can I trust DietaryCard's translations?
All of the explanations and risk foods on our cards are translated, in good faith, by native language speakers and have been verified by modern language teachers and ‘road-tested’ in restaurants abroad by personal friends. The English phrasings have been ‘authenticated’ as suitable by medical doctors.
We are confident that you can be confident in using our cards to widen your horizons. However, foreign language translation is an inexact science and in some cases, languages do not have a one-word counterpart for a risk food, and therefore any translation must be descriptive in nature.
In addition, every language is subject to regional differences stemming from local dialect or custom. We can assume no responsibility for misinterpretations of the information provided on our cards and recommend that you carry your normal ‘back up’ medication with you, eg an adrenalin shot or antihistamine, whenever you are eating out.
